The sights of Russia

My friends and I are soon heading out to Russia and we wanted to really take in some amazing sights. There are some pretty special things to do when you head over to Russia, and we didn’t want to come away feeling as if we hadn’t got everything we could out of our trip. We had heard that you could engage in some proper training for air space travel – pretty much exactly the same process that the Russian astronauts undertook. It was commonly referred to out there as space a travel military and we definitely wanted to do it!

The other thing we both wanted to do, as we both are plane buffs, is to take the opportunity to fly in some mig 29 jets. We were absolutely amazed that there was a possibility that we would be able to do this! Just the thought of being able to sit in one would have been enough for me but to actually be up in the sky in that fabulous flying machine was enough to make me take the trip on its own! I was so excited about our trip in the jet that I began to explore the website, and I became even more excited when I saw that it was possible for us to also fly mig-31 fighter jets! This was just amazing! These really seemed like once in a lifetime opportunities to me and my friend, so we signed up for both straight away!

It was turning into a week of aviation, both in and out of our own airspace! That was fine by me, because I had been fascinated with flight from a young age, and it turned out that our holiday was going to be the perfect trip for me!

What Are Pod Hotels and Can They Save You Money When You Travel?

Pod hotels are not a new phenomenon. They have been around for many years, but most travelers have never heard of them. The concept started in Japan as “capsule hotels”, that were, and are still being used mainly by businessmen on stopovers. However, pod hotels are becoming more and more popular with vacation travelers as well, because they are convenient and cost a lot less than regular hotels. They can be found in the United States, Britain, Europe, and Asia, usually in, or near airports.

The pod hotel concept is just in its infancy in the U.S. and Europe, but is growing by leaps and bounds as more and more holiday travelers demand this unique service. Entrepreneurs are responding by creating very small, pod-like hotel rooms that are usually rented by the hour, or number of hours.

Most pod hotel rooms are small, but comfortable and convenient, and they can have all the amenities of a regular hotel room at a fraction of the cost. They can be a good choice for budget-conscious business travelers and vacationers.

Some pod hotels are located at airports such as the ones at Yotel.com, situated in London’s Heathrow and Gatwick Airports.

EasyHotels.com have pod hotels in London, Zurich, Basal, and Budapest. QBICHotels.com have pod hotels located in Amsterdam and Antwerp. A New York pod hotel is the PickwickArms.com.

There is a new concept in pod hotels called Metronap Sleep Pods. These space age styled pods are springing up not only on the concourses of airports, but in strategic locations in office buildings. They are perfect for tourists and business travelers, as well as tired people and executives that just want to have a short nap. Even though these sleep pods are situated out in the open, they partially enclose for privacy, but are not claustrophobic. They are also equipped with noise canceling headphones. The rental cost is by the hour and is reasonably priced.

Finding Cheap Lodging In London

London is surely one of the most mesmerizing tourist destinations across the world. A perfect blend of the true flavors of antiquity and modernity, London stands out of all the other tourist destinations across Europe and around the world. And when you are planning a trip down to our very own majestic city of London, you must realize that being the hub of the trade, tourism and the largest city of the world, you would need to be really careful in planning your budget.

When it comes to travel agencies, there is no dearth of swindlers and fraudulent agents that mint a fortune by providing you minimal lodging facilities in the maximum money. Well, if you don’t want to get cheated, and wish to play safe, then the option that we suggest for you is to find the suitable lodging online. There are various lodges that are being provided by these online websites at very reasonable rates. But you must convince yourself regarding the reliability of a particular online travel agency before you settle for a lodge in London.

You could choose a lodge that should not be very far off from the city’s main tourist destinations like the Hyde’s park, Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, Oxford Street, Piccadilly and so on. Remember, if you try to save bucks in availing a lodge in a distant corner of London, it wouldn’t be as cheap as London is a fairly big city and you will have to shell out a fortune in commuting around the city.

A decent lodge accommodation should consist of a room that should be simple and pretty functional. Plus, bathroom facilities, TV and telephone. They include breakfast in their package as well. You could switch on to a better accommodation in a fashionable corner of London, depending upon your budget and suitability. There are many online travel agencies which ensure that you find a cheap lodge in the heart of London that suits your requirements.

London Discount Airfare – Travel To Europe At A Lower Cost

Traveling to Europe can be quite expensive if you fly at the regular airfare, but if you find a great London discount airfare, you will be able to travel at a much lower cost.

There are several websites on the Internet where you can get discount airfare. Some of the more popular sites for this are Travelocity, Orbit and Hotwire. You just need to type in your preferred date of departure and the city you are coming from and they will show you all the flights that have London discount airfare.

You may reserve the tickets for 24 hours but you are not obliged to pay for them. This is good in case you find a better London discounted airfare offer on another website.

If you have a very limited budget, though, you can also try Priceline. In this website, you can specify the maximum amount you are willing to spend on your discount airfare. Priceline will try to find all the London discount airfares that will not exceed your budget.

However, if you go for this option, you are committed to purchasing the flight ticket that they locate for you. If you change your mind, you will be charged a considerable amount.

You might also get better opportunities for discounted airfare if you consider arriving at a smaller airport rather than the Heathrow, where prices can be a little bit higher. Just be sure that the airport you land in is not too far from your destination, as the funds you save from your discount airfare might just go into your cab fare.

When browsing through websites, make sure you read all the details concerning the discount airfare offer that you are interested in. Some of these might have hidden fees that are mentioned in the fine print of the advertisement. Also, some prices may not be displayed in US dollars so you have to be careful.

The cheapest way to save on accommodations is if you can stay with some people you know while in London. For most people, though, this is not a possibility. However, you can also save on lodging if you are able to find travel packages that include hotel accommodations, car rentals, and London discount airfare all tied together. You will find that you will usually be able to save a lot more with these package deals.

Once you get to London, traveling to the rest of Europe will not be much of a problem anymore. All you need to do is hop into your rental car and drive on. With London discount airfare, you have an opportunity of experiencing the many countries of Europe at a fraction of the cost.

Discovering Lanzarote

Holidays only come round once or twice a year at best, so it’s important that you get the most out of your time away from work. As a result, one factor that holidaymakers want to be able to ensure is good weather. And while that’s not something that comes with a cast-iron guarantee, there are some places that are more reliable than others.

The Canary Islands have won a good reputation for having some of the best weather to be found around the whole of Europe. Due to their southerly position, they enjoy a balmy climate all year round and generally have very low rainfall as well.

Each of the seven islands has something different to offer, partly due to the variations in size and geography. Lanzarote, in particular, has chosen an alternative route in developing its tourist infrastructure. One which eschews high rise apartment buildings.

Instead, the general mix of accommodation in Lanzarote is very low-key and restrained. The three main tourist resorts don’t look that different from the villages and towns in the rural interior.

This is due to the fact that all the buildings are painted white. And even the hotels in Lanzarote can’t be taller than a palm tree. Whilst the selection of self-catering accommodation ranges from small studios to lovely holiday villas.

Of the latter, the best holiday villas in Lanzarote can either be found in the exclusive enclave of Los Mojones in Puerto del Carmen. Or in the newer resort of Playa Blanca, where the vast majority of properties have been built in the last ten years.

Both these seaside towns have beautiful sandy beaches and a wide range of activities for tourists to take part in. As the location of the annual Iron Man competition, Lanzarote is well established as a favourite with athletes.

But there are also plenty of facilities for holidaymakers who simply want to try something different. Such as sport-fishing or parascending. Not to mention that it has several unique tourist attractions that were created by an internationally acclaimed artist.

And whilst these attractions are the epitome of seventies chic, they also still look good today. Thanks to the aesthetic of Cesar Manrique, their creator, they have a timeless quality, the result of each place working in harmony with the surrounding scenery.

Visitors to the island are usually pleasantly surprised to find that Lanzarote has these additional points of interest, as they make the island stand out from the typical Spanish holiday hotspot. And this often encourages visitors to return for a second look.

Best Hostels in Europe – Germany, Poland and Hungary

As always, the best way to take a look outside at the world of hostels in Europe is not to listen to what their owners say, and even I would say it is not about looking at the punctuation that they have in travel pages. From my point of view, there is no better source than looking at what users from Interrail or Eurail say after being in some of this hostels. I have done some research on different Interrail local forums and here it comes a selection of the best hostels in Europe.

For Germany, if you are looking to travel to Hamburg, a good recommendation is Auf Dem Stinfang. clean and tidy according to the guests, good atmosphere and the breakfast simply incredible. Going now to the capital, the best pick is the Eastern Hostel, specially because it is further from conventional. It is in fact a docked boat, so the experience of sleeping in a floating hostel seems incredible. Quality on board is very high for being just a hostel and many of the rooms are underwater, which can sound like exciting or scary. It all depends on you.

If you go past the border and enter in Poland, you will need to visit Krakow for sure. The best place where to spend your nights will be in this case the hostel called Giraffe. Clean, brand new, very fashion, and apparently with some very kind and good looking girls at the front desk, make it a combination of factors that makes it to be considered one of the best hostels in Poland.

In Poland also, you will be possibly visiting the capital. There you should take a look to Tamka Hostel, just 15 minutes away from the old center. The Internet connection is free, you get a great breakfast, sweet ladies at the front desk with a good English level… and even a PlayStaion 2 to play with!

Going a bit to the south you could enter Hungary. The best hostels in Hungary can be found in the capital, and the most significant is the Mellow Mod Hostel, probably a bit more expensive than normal providing that Hungary is quite a cheap country, but it definitely is worth the stay. What space can’t do to make the rooms bigger it is done by decoration, which makes it to be a kind of luxury hostel.

There are many more best hostels in Europe that should have been mentioned in this article, but the idea is to make things easy. One place, one hostel. If you are not convince, you always can try to look at the forums and look for something. I could even tell you about a very good forum in Spain but, as many things in this country, it is in Spanish. What about the opportunity to learn Spanish and get free plane tickets to Europe?
